On Memorial day we headed out of town. Just north of Santa Cruz, California Route 1 threads its way up the coast between the mountains to the east and fields of artichokes to the west. Wilder Ranch State Park preserves about 7000 acres consisting of mountain meadows, a working dairy farm, fields, and the spectacular bluffs at the edge of the ocean. Surprisingly, we didn't run into too many people.
